The government accepted an action plan for the protection of the economy, consisting of 13 plus 1 measures, Mr Mihály VARGA, Minister of Finance, announced at the ’Government Info’, held on 30 May. The core elements of the plan are the simplification of taxation, the reduction and the concentration of certain individual tax rates, and the suspension of the advertising tax between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2022.
According to the provisions set forth in Act CXXI of 1999 on economic chambers, business entities are obliged to pay mandatory chamber’s contribution in every year, in the amount of HUF 5000 until March 31 in the current year, i.e. until March 31, 2019 this year.

The Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal, GVH) initiated a competition supervision procedure in 2016, to investigate the communications practices of Google LLC (Google) that were assumed to have violated the prohibition of unfair trading practices.
The official statement of National Media- and Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság, NMHH) of 27 August 2018 claimed that in 2017, Vodafone did not perform the data reconciliation of about one-third of its subscribers having prepaid phone cards as per the statutory provisions, furthermore, it disconnected unreconciled SIM cards only one week after the deadline. For the above infringement, the media authority decided to impose a fine of HUF 40 million on the telecommunication service provider. Vodafone filed an appeal against the authority’s resolution adopted in June, which was then upheld by the second instance authority on 24 August.
A press release of the Court of Justice of the European Union on 7 August 2018 disclosed to the public the Court’s judgment, adopted in the proceedings between Land of North Rhine-Westphalia and Dirk Renckhoff, stating that ‘the concept of “communication to the public”, must be interpreted as meaning that it covers the posting on one website of a photograph previously posted, without any restrictions and with the consent of the copyright holder, on another website’. In the opinion of the Court, this communication requires the obtainment of new permission from the author, as it makes the photograph available for a new public.

A new IM Decree was recently issued, amending previous IM Decree No. 7/2017 (VI.1.), which is meant to govern the activities pursued by professional Business Address Services Providers (hereinafter referred to as “BASP”), (which earlier entered into force on 1 July 2017), the effective date of such new decree being 19 July 2017.
